Rebecca Foon
In 2020, as a natural extension of her artistic and musical practices intertwined with climate activism, Rebecca Foon began creating large-scale lightboxes highlighting untouched regions of the world.
In 2014, Foon co-founded Pathway to Paris with Jesse Paris Smith, a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing awareness and action around the Paris Agreement. Pathway to Paris launched the 1000 Cities Initiative for Carbon Freedom at the United Nations Secretariat in 2017, supporting cities in transitioning away from fossil fuels by 2040. To commemorate Earth Day 2021, in collaboration with Pathway to Paris and Circa Art, Rebecca Foon and Jesse Paris Smith designed an art installation at Piccadilly Square in London, England, showcasing their collaboration with Olafur Eliasson and Little Sun. The aim of the exhibition was to instill a sense of hope and wonder for our planet and its trajectory on Earth Day. A recipient of several awards, including the 2023 Juno Award for Instrumental Album of the Year (for Esmerine), Foon has also performed worldwide since 2000 as a cellist, singer, and composer. Foon resides and works in Montreal, Canada.
