The sale of these works has enabled La Chapelle to reach its fundraising goal, and will help the organization to better promote creative youth and multidisciplinary arts.
Founded in 1990 in Montreal, near Saint-Laurent Boulevard, La Chapelle is a creative venue and arts center that supports young artists as well as interdisciplinary and alternative art forms.
About George E. Russell
George E. Russell (1933-2016) was a Canadian artist renowned for his hexagonal paintings of geometric shapes and pure colors. Linked to Op-Art and influenced by the Quebec movement Les Plasticiens, Russell fused geometric abstraction and spontaneous expression in his artistic approach. Inspired both by Quebec, his adopted homeland, and by the vast spaces of his native Saskatchewan, he has created multiple series of serigraphs, watercolours and acrylic paintings on canvas and wood.
